forcing its emergency abort system to activ-ate during the uncrewed mission.

According to the Federal Aviation Adminis-tration, the rocket crashed back to Earth with no injuries or damage.

The FAA also stated that it would investigate the incident.

"Before the New Shepard vehicle can resume flight, the FAA will determine whether any system,

process, or procedure related to the mishap harmed public safety."

The failure occurred during Max Q, a period in spaceflight when rockets experience the

greatest amount of aerodynamic stress during ascent.

During this period of flight, the booster's engine would be throttled back to deal

with the stress before throttling back up to reach maximum height before separating.

During Monday's mission, however, the capsule ejected itself from the booster.
